Mathilde du Sordet

Born: Lyon, France
Lives: Lyon, France

Born in 1979, Mathilde du Sordet is a french artist based in Lyon. 'Simple and sober, the materials used by Mathilde du Sordet are not neutral : they bring to mind writing and drawing. Forms of art that are close to what she does, to her way of making sculpture, by sketching out the proportions with objects and combining them to create a language.'
Her artwork has been exhibited in solo and group shows in different art centers as Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Institut d'Art Contemporain in Villeurbanne and La Galerie in Noisy-le-sec. Mathilde du Sordet has worked for specific projects during residencies, the latest one, 'The world is around it. The world is outside it', was made in a crossed residency between AIR Antwerpen and Artistes en Residence in Clermont-Ferrand. She also works as curator, with an exhibition organized in Paris in 2014.
