Cynthia Bittenfield

Cynthia Bittenfield pursues projects that shed light on the human cost of war whether dealing with the issue of post-traumatic stress disorder, documenting the sites of battlefields and atrocity, or considering life on the home front. Her work will be in the upcoming shows, The End of War at the Northlight Gallery in Tempe, AZ and The Homecoming Project in Austin, TX. Her work has been exhibited at the School of Visual Arts Gallery, and Broadway Gallery, both in New York City, The Print Center in Philadelphia, Photography NOW 2010: Either/And, Part 2: The New Docugraphics at The Center for Photography at Woodstock and The Art of Photography Show in San Diego, CA where she received an honorable mention. Her video work was included in Projecting Freedom: Cinematic Interpretations of the Haggadah screening in New York, London, and San Francisco. Bittenfield is a grant recipient from the School of Visual Arts, New York, where she received her MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media. She holds a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her photography and related projects are available online at www.bittenfield.com. She lives and works in New York City and is currently on the board of the Camera Club of New York.
