Slide Show - projected on to sculptural panel, Dimensions Variable, Duration Variable
This slide show was projected onto a panel that was designed to reference the architecture of theater prosceniums. To create the photographs, I used old theater tricks such as manipulating fabric, cotton, lights and fans to create the illusion of fire and smoke. Each of the 30 images in the slide show are almost exactly the same, except that they each capture the "flickering" flames differently. Viewed in sequence, the photo appears to be animated. Through out the slide show, the appearance of smoke slowly obscures the woman and then dissipates. The effect was created with pieces of hand dyed pillow stuffing pulled apart into a gauze, which was then placed in front of the camera lense.
