A landscape transformed under the influence of Soviet ideology is the main theme of this work. The project was filmed in Eastern Ukraine: in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.As conceived by Soviet builders the territory of Donbass would become a ‘proletarian paradise’, an artificially created mining capital. Workers from all over the country were brought to this deserted, arid place and whole new cities grew up round the mines and factories.The project records the territory of Donbass and what remains of this vast Soviet experiment, 20 years after its completion.
