Two Rooms on Closed Circuit, 2010
Wooden Speaker Enclosure, Microphone, Live Video Feed and Projection, Dimensions Variable
NFS
This piece explores the potential for spectators to create performance/audience relationships with each other. It exists in two rooms. One contains a boundary microphone placed on the floor and a video camera that takes a live feed of the audience around the microphone. both of these signals are sent to a second room elsewhere in the building containing a speaker which displays a projection of the live video feed. The audio from the microphone is fed through a resonator program which only allows tones to pass through which are specific notes of a chord. The audiences voice, footsteps or any sonic action in the first room translate into a tones in the second, while their actions are visible on the side of the speaker. The piece serves to subtly suggest and encourage social interplay as well as listening.
