This work explores the mythology surrounding the ritualistic nature of fashion. In particular, it focuses on elements and symbology found in ritualistic activity, conventional patterns of documentation, and the ways in which this information is disseminated.

These ideas are integrated in order to consider and understand our relationship to fashion as a primal desire, one built on the phenomena of clothing as a worshiped object. Using the cultural tradition of Casual Friday to investigate these beliefs reinforces the thought of clothing as a fetish object. Utilizing this workplace rite of passage as an example, Casual Friday describes our innate desire to choose how we express ourselves, and the subsequent enormous value we place on wardrobe.
