In this video work the artist plays on the visualisation of mental disorders. Her schizophrenic film Slippage follows on from her Observations of a Tourette, animations where the artist drew from life, observing people with Tourettes and their involuntary muscle spasms, while in the waiting rooms of physicians pending her own clinical diagnosis. She bravely presents an inner dialogue in this new film-work, a woman torn between self-deprecation and intense personal focus, yet through the mechanism of additional heads viewer compassion is disallowed. In an age when syndromes and mental disorders have reached a crescendo, the artist presents the patient as at once vulnerable and empowered by their difference.
