Jakob Ojanen (b. 1980) works with both photography and painting and operates within a discrete and yet surreal scale where low-voiced alterations and fictional elements create surprising distortions of reality. Painterly representation and photography as a documenting medium overlap to create a play on visual representation. Ojanen’s compositions make us think about what is real and what is not and how easily we mistake the two. His work reveals the unseen. The imagination and the physical world meet and seem more like parallel dimensions rather than two opposing forces.
