A Vast New Wilderness of Glass, 2012

Within my work, I explore the relationship between capitalism, the environment and one’s community. I seek to uncover the modern connection and disconnection people have to their surrounding landscape as I rethinkthe notion of "progress". I recognize we have a variety of relationships with nature and I consider how those relationships shift and reshape over time.
Much of our current cultural relationship with nature is now mediated through windows - windows in our homes, at work, in our cars. I use modern materials and a turn of the century shape to explore how our relationship nature has changed.
