The Rock of the Month Club (#12), 2009

'The Rock of the Month Club'
In 2008 I subscribed to a monthly mineral club, run by a husband and wife geological team. During the ensuing year, they mailed me a different rock each month from all over the world. I photographed these rocks in various “natural” settings, at night, occasionally introducing foreign elements (packaging materials, etc.) in order to highlight the constructed realism and manipulation of the photographs.
'The Rock of the Month Club' transports these exotic minerals from their countries of origin (India, Brazil, Morocco, China, U.S.A., Australia, etc.) to new photographic existences in a manipulated natural world.
These photographs are printed as limited edition digital c prints.
