I use circumstancial elements from my surroundings as means of exploring abstraction in painting.

In my recent work I am visually borrowing parts of objects and images that I find at hand, and playing with ways of reconstructing these as an image. As a process, I rely heavily on selective observation, faulty memory, circumstantial tangents, and a desire to find the underlying subject within the tension of observed and imagined space. It's important to me that the work is guided by reality and rooted in the time, place and personal biases that feed my decision making, but these elements act mostly as a catalyst for exploring abstraction and the self-conscious terms through which I engage with it.
