Nature vs Nurture, 2013
Photography, 50cm x 75cm
Maria Konstanse Bruun's composed performance-based self-portraits joyously bring the absurd into collision with the mundane. The work focus on the space between our inner and outer worlds and hold narratives that force you to engage with the more subconscious parts of your emotional landscape. Evident in her artistic praxis is Maria's academic background in Social Anthropology and Psychology; the work, that draws upon a deep fascination with the human psyche and our emotional backyard, is suggestive towards socio-psychological and cultural spaces and questions how we engage and interact with our surroundings.
