Temescal Seed Swap, 2010
Reused pegboard, bike parts, bed springs; envelopes; seeds; recorded conversation, x 60 x 6,030", Duration Variable
A five-year mobile social engagement experiment that encouraged the sharing of local seeds and stories about neighborhood gardens in Oakland, CA. The seed swap stock included flowers and vegetables that grow in our micro-climate. With the seed cart, built from locally salvaged material, we visited area farmers' markets and street fairs. Installations include a 10-minute video. The project has been presented at the New Langton Gallery (San Francisco), the Headlands Center for the Arts and the Berkeley Art Museum as well as at ACVic Centre d'Arts Contemporànies, Barcelona, Spain.
