spinning wheel, bicycle, wool, mirror, Dimensions Variable, Duration Variable
SpinCycle is a participatory performance that invites people to pedal a bicycle that is hitched to my spinning wheel. Their pedalling action makes the wheel function and I spin wool into yarn. Before they get on the bike, the rider selects a card with a story prompt on it so that, while they pedal, they also tell me a story (in the mirror, which is strategically placed on the floor so that I can see their face and they can see mine but we can't see our own). We spin yarn while spinning yarns.
